A written scope before comparison

Self propelled forage harvester quotation support

Turn a machine name into a request that separates crop performance, equipment configuration and delivery responsibility. Verdant Link Sourcing coordinates the purchasing brief as an independent sourcing partner.

What each factory needs to answer

Request itemComparable supplier reply
Crop and throughput basisName maize or grass, moisture or handling target and the basis for t/h. Ask which crop conditions and configuration the quoted capacity assumes; avoid mixing fresh-mass and dry-matter figures.
Power and working widthRecord engine power in hp or kW, header type and working width in m. Confirm what is included with the header, drives, adapters and control connection, rather than assuming the pictured arrangement is the quoted one.
Chopping and processingSpecify the required cut adjustment, kernel processor scope, knife arrangement and crop-flow inspection access. Ask the factory to identify adjustment limits and service tasks in its operating documentation.
Commercial boundaryRequest quantity, currency, unit basis, packing dimensions, named delivery point and exclusions. List commissioning, wear parts and service documents separately. Confirm freight, duties and inland transport responsibilities with the appropriate parties.

A comparison method with visible open questions

  1. Resolve the field assumptions

We review the buyer's crop brief, seasonal delivery date and site operating conditions. Missing moisture, crop throughput basis or wagon interface information becomes a question for the buyer; it is not silently replaced with a supplier default. Review relevant catalog options before settling the scope.

  2. Keep alternatives in separate columns

A wider header, different processor or smaller engine changes the request. Keep the base offer intact and ask the manufacturer to label alternatives, their technical differences and their commercial impact. A lower purchase price may exclude needed support, so compare procurement total cost and expected maintenance tasks rather than selecting by unit price alone.

  3. Agree verification before commitment

Ask for the exact model specification, engine identification, operating manual, wear-part references and a proposed acceptance route. A witnessed demonstration can use an agreed crop, moisture measurement method, time interval and recorded output. Such a proposal is not a completed test; suitability and any destination requirements remain subject to review.

  4. Document responsibilities

Manufacturers quote and support their products under agreed terms. The buyer decides the purchase and confirms local installation and operating arrangements. Our sourcing role is to coordinate questions and compare replies, not to issue engineering approvals or promise delivery. See the written checklist for the comparison record.

Request the same scope from each factory

Send crop and throughput basis, working width or capacity, power and interface, moisture or handling target, wear parts and service documents, quantity and US destination. Include an optional budget and supplier preference to guide the comparison.
